2022 China Titanium Industry Development Report
In 2022, the global titanium industry will maintain a slight growth momentum as a whole. In the first three quarters, foreign companies basically got out of the impact of the new crown epidemic, and the operating rate has been improved, and the demand for titanium ore raw materials has also increased, which in turn pushed up the global price of titanium ore raw materials. In the fourth quarter, the growth rate of global titanium dioxide consumption was lower than expected, and energy costs in Europe remained high. International titanium dioxide giants issued a message, announcing that they may reduce the production of titanium dioxide in 2023; coupled with the sluggish performance of the Chinese real estate market, the global demand for titanium dioxide has weakened , some titanium ore prices have a slight correction.
In 2022, the global output of titanium ore will be about 8.673 million tons (calculated by TiO2 content), a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; the output of rutile will be about 587,000 tons (calculated by TiO2 content), a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%.

In 2022, the global output of titanium sponge will be 279,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.6%. Among them, the output of titanium sponge in China accounted for 62.7%, and the output of titanium sponge in Russia and Ukraine declined to varying degrees, down 7.4% and 83.6% respectively; the output of titanium sponge in Japan, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia increased by 1.6% respectively. %, 6.7% and 93.0%. In 2022, the global output of titanium processed materials may be (210,000~215,000) tons.
In 2022, under the influence of many unfavorable factors such as repeated outbreaks of domestic epidemics, declining economic growth rate, and drastic changes in the international situation, my country's titanium industry will still maintain a stable, healthy and orderly development momentum, and the output of major products will continue to grow. Product prices remained generally stable without excessive fluctuations, which was a hard-won achievement. In 2022, my country's titanium industry will continue to make technological breakthroughs in the comprehensive utilization of titanium resources, national defense and military industry, aerospace, marine engineering, medical equipment and downstream high-tech applications, and its overall capabilities will be improved. In the fields of oil exploration and new energy, we will continue to increase exploration and research and development efforts, and cultivate and develop new application markets. In the process of sponge titanium smelting and titanium material processing, we continue to explore new technologies for energy saving and consumption reduction, and actively respond to the country's overall goal of "green and low-carbon" development.
