Development Trend Of Titanium Alloy Material

From 2011 to 2016, the demand for titanium materials in China declined, followed by a significant upward trend.Since 2008, the demand for titanium materials in China has generally been on an upward trend, and the titanium materials market reached a stage high in 2011, after which the domestic demand for titanium materials began to decline and the Chinese titanium industry experienced structural overcapacity, with high-end titanium materials for aerospace in short supply and serious overcapacity in low-end titanium materials for civil use. Driven by the demand of high-end chemical, aerospace, shipping and power industries, China's demand for titanium processing materials continues to reach record highs.

Each year in China there is an increasing annual demand for titanium processing materials in terms of tons.

1 These batch stability control technologies help monitor titanium alloy material quality.

Titanium alloy material quality directly impacts on the performance and safety of high-end equipment, making its control technology development an ongoing topic of conversation. The batch stability of batch production quality is influenced by factors such as process advancement, equipment status and site operation standardization, and as the size of titanium alloy ingot and bar continues to increase, it is necessary to invest heavily in research and development to improve process rationality, identify key elements of process quality control, and then improve the batch stability control technology of titanium alloy material quality to meet the requirements of high-end fields.

2, large titanium alloy ingots, bars and forging billets preparation technology.

In order to improve equipment performance and structural efficiency, reduce the weight of the structure, shorten the production cycle and control costs, new military aircraft, civilian large passenger aircraft and a variety of aero-engine titanium alloy parts are increasingly large, and the proportion of titanium alloy parts structure is increasingly high. For example, the blade and leaf disc is replaced by the overall leaf disc, multiple frame beam is replaced by the overall frame, engine magazine and drum diameter is also getting larger. In recent years, China's multiple large die forging forming equipment into production, large-tonnage forming technology rapid development. China's more new military aircraft, a large number of components of large aircraft from the beginning of the design is clear to use the integral manufacturing process route, the relevant parts forging with titanium alloy bar and forging billet specifications are increasingly large, large titanium alloy ingots, bars and forging billet preparation technology is still one of the important direction of the industry's technological development.

3, ultra-high strength and high toughness titanium alloy and high temperature titanium alloy research and development.

With the new aviation equipment, structural efficiency requirements are increasingly high, the demand for ultra-high strength and high toughness titanium alloy is increasingly urgent. China units have also conducted the research and development of ultra-high strength titanium alloys over 1,350MPa. The domestic development of 1300MPa + 60MPa-m1/2 level of ultra-high strength and high toughness titanium alloy and a single weight of 5 tons, the cross-sectional thickness of nearly 400mm oversized forging billet, while there is no such large forgings with ultra-high strength and high toughness titanium alloy materials abroad. The technical maturity of ultra-high strength and high toughness titanium alloy needs to be further improved. High-temperature titanium alloy is a key material for aero-engine, the use temperature can cover 300 ℃ ~ 600 ℃, can replace part of the high-temperature alloy and stainless steel, used in the manufacture of engine and gas turbine blades, disc parts, magazine, drum and other engine parts. Overseas IMI834 titanium alloy is the most widely used titanium alloy at 600℃ and has the highest technical maturity, which is used in Rolls-Royce's Trent series, EJ200 and Pratt & Whitney's PW350. China 600 ℃ and 600 ℃ above the use of high-temperature titanium alloy technology maturity can not meet the requirements of the development of new aircraft engines, related development work needs to be accelerated.

4, weapons and other special titanium alloy research and development and preparation technology.

Titanium alloy has a high specific strength, good corrosion resistance, has a unique advantage in the field of weapons, marine engineering, nuclear power and other applications. For example, the use of titanium alloy as a missile combat material can not only improve the cruise speed through weight reduction, but also improve the precision strike capability of the combat section with good damage tolerance. The development of new special titanium alloys is of great significance for their expanded application in high-performance weapons, marine engineering, nuclear power and other fields.
